FIDDLESTICKS COUNTRY CLUB - LOCAL RULES

USGA rules govern all play, amended by the following local rules as of June 30, 2021:

Waste areas are considered the general area. A player may ground his/her club but not improve the lie. An area is deemed to be a waste area if there are no rakes present All cart paths are to be played as immovable obstructions. Blue stakes will define the transition from waste area to cart path and vice versa. Long Mean Drop Zones (#9, #17, #18): If a player’s ball enters a penalty area during an approach shot (Approach shot is defined as any shot towards the green and the player has a realistic opportunity of reaching the green), the player may proceed under rule 17.1d. On hole #17 and #18, the player has the additional option of dropping in the drop zone (adjacent the cart path on #18, on the forward tee on #17). If a second approach shot enters the penalty area during play of the same hole, a player has the option of dropping in the drop zone adjacent to the greens on #9 and #18. Bulkheads: The water’s edge of the wooden bulkheads on holes #3, #4, #9, & #18 of the Long Mean define the mar- gin of the penalty area. The steps on # 1, #6, or #12 of the Long Mean may be played as an immovable obstruction and a player may drop within one club length of the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole, without penalty. All oth- er parts of a bulkhead within the bunker area are an integral part of the course, and therefore no relief is granted. If your ball lies in a groove against a bulkhead outside the penalty area, the player may take the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.

Ground Under Repair : White lines define ground under repair where relief is optional. You may take relief without penalty from all trees that are either staked, tagged, or with defined wells.

The inner edge of all roadways along the hole being played shall define out of bounds. A ball which crosses a road de- fined as out of bounds and comes to rest beyond that road is considered out of bounds, even though it may lie on an- other part of the course.

All private property including members’ yards, if not otherwise defined, is deemed to be out of bounds. In the absence of stakes or lines, a decision shall become one of equity, i.e., follow the contour of the course.

Free relief is granted from a sprinkler head that is on your line of play and lies within 2 club lengths from the green and 2 club lengths from your ball. The ball should be dropped at the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.

If a ball lies on the edging groove around a green, the ball may be placed within six inches behind the groove, no nearer the hole.

Option to stroke and distance : When a player’s ball cannot be found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance. For two penalty strokes , the player may take relief by dropping a ball in a relief area (Rule 14.3)

The player may not use this option when:

The ball is known or virtually certain to have come to rest in a penalty area, or The player has played another ball provisionally under penalty of stroke and distance (see Rule 18.3)
