FCC Coronavirus Response
Monday, July 06, 2020
We have all stopped to consider the news of the rising case counts in Florida. I for
one know first hand how things can change so quickly and this virus can infiltrate
your life. I am grateful that I recovered quickly and following a re-check, have now
tested negative. I have returned to the office and sincerely appreciate all of your well
wishes. Sam is continuing to recover at home and is awaiting her test results
following a re-check. Today, we received some unfortunate news; one of our F&B
employees has tested positive for Coronavirus. She has agreed to share her name
with the membership so that you can be aware in the event you had contact with
her. Dani is one of our lead bartenders and she last worked at the Cabana on June
27th. On June 28th she called her supervisor informing him she felt tired and wanted
to get tested just to be on the safe side. She was immediately removed from the
schedule while she awaited her test results. Management then sanitized her work
area that day. The Food and Beverage staff have been notified of Dani’s positive
test and she will continue to isolate for the time being until cleared. The CDC
recommends that if you had close, sustained contact with an infected person you
should consider testing. Sustained contact is defined as within six feet for fifteen
minutes. Self isolation until results are received is standard practice.
With all of the efforts we have made to flatten the curve it begs the question, how
could this happen when so many are doing so much? There are also those that
could be doing more, and here at Fiddlesticks we want to ensure we are doing our
part. Due to the extreme increase in Covid cases in our area, starting tomorrow all
employees will be wearing masks whether indoors or outdoors if they are within 6
feet of another person or handling food and/or beverage. Wearing a mask is said to
be one of the most effective preventative measures you can take in this fight against
Coronavirus. It can be difficult due to the extreme summer weather, but wearing a
mask when in close contact to others can be done as a precaution.
